The email that changed our lives

On Wednesday I (Trisha) was in the kitchen making dinner and Eduardo was BBQing. With the busyness of the past while we were looking forward to a quieter evening and mostly we were starving when I heard "Honey...we're parents" from the livingroom. Looking up from where I was chopping celery I saw the wide-eyed look on the face of my husband and the iPhone about to fall from his fingers and my whole world changed.
In that moment I couldn't turn off the various noise-making and food-preparing things in my kitchen and livingroom fast enough as I rushed to see the email in his hands.
Generally my spanish reading comprehension is pretty good but in that moment translation was needed for the details as my eyes raced through the email and settled on 2 very significant bits of information. We have a son and he was born December 28, 2008!! Anyone who has known me from childhood knows that math is not my strongest suit but let me tell you, it didn't take many milliseconds to realize that meant he is not even 5 months old yet!!!
The tears flowed instantly as it all started to sink in and the muscles in my face are getting tender from smiling.
Now what? Well, now we wait...such a common part in this whole process. But unlike the indefinite wait that comes between home study and referral, this wait is full of activity to prepare for our child, our son to come home. The next great email will be the one with his picture - the one we are anxiously awaiting so that we can introduce him to you all. As the last post stated, oh what a difference an hour makes, what a difference a moment makes...it changed our evening, our moods, and our appetites as somehow whatever was on the BBQ could wait.
Photo and official introduction coming soon...maybe there's a new email now...

Dearest Trisha and Eddie:
We are thrilled beyond words for you. You will be such amazing parents for that sweet little boy. We can't wait to meet your son and hold him and snuggle him and kiss him. We are praying for him and you as you come close to the time of getting him and bringing him home. Our hearts are full of praise! We love all 3 of you. Uncle Dave and Aunty Deb
