It's all about teamwork

We were able to buy a car seat for baby the other day and we were excited to see that a dresser combo that Trisha wanted for the nursery was available at a good price. So, we embarked on the journey of putting the dresser together.
We have bought furniture that needs assembly before, so this was not a big shocker to us (so, we thought). We were thinking that it would take us maybe half an hour, leaving us a lot of spare time to hang out at the beach.

As we started to unpack the pieces, we noticed that two small items didn’t match the diagrams in the manual, but hey... that didn’t stop us. We started to follow the instructions, but the steps were done in a fairly complicated way and they skipped a lot of little steps (I think they were assuming that the buyer has a lot of carpentry knowledge). The result: a task that we thought would be done in half an hour took 3 hours.

But, this is not a baby dresser furniture review, as Trisha and I were tired, frustrated at some points, looking blank at some of the pieces, but at the end proudly looking at the dresser and telling each other “Luis Eduardo will use this dresser for a long time!”. It reminded us a bit of our road ahead:

- The instruction manual for our child may not contain all the information. It doesn’t matter what preconceived idea we have about our child’s future. We need to seek God for wisdom as we love and guide this boy that He has entrusted us.

- It takes two to raise a child. We cannot do it separately. Our marriage is important and we need to continue to cultivate our relationship, so together we can tackle parenthood.

- It will be messy, exhausting, uproarious... and amazing! We cannot cut corners or try to make our child fit the preconceptions that we might have for him. We need to have the curious eye to see his uniqueness and possibilities, and to help him become everything that he can be for God.

Updates:
We have our tickets, and we are flying to Colombia on June 23rd. The papers that are needed for the Canada side are done!!! Today we received the letter of no objection from the Government of Canada. We are still waiting for the criminal record check.

Luis Eduardo’s Abuelita and Bita (that is Grandma and Great-grandma in Spanish) are getting ready for our arrival, a crib has been placed in our room and they are going to see him tomorrow afternoon.

We are counting the days...

Fantastic! So glad you got his crib put together. Just one of the many acts of love we so joyfully do for our children. You will love doing things like that for him his entire life! He is so blessed to have you...you are so blessed to have him. We love you,
